No rift in ad hoc committee: Kalmadi
New Delhi, Jan 20: The IOA president Suresh Kalmadi today downplayed the claims that there was any rift within the hockey’s ad-hoc committee, which was brought to notice by Randhir Singh, who resigned from the panel citing his unhappiness with the way the game was being run in the country.
Speaking to mediapersons here after a meeting with the ad-hoc committee and selectors, Kalmadi, who is the chairman of the panel said, “We are all together and there is no rift in the ad-hoc committee.” “It was just that I was handling the ad-hoc committee and Randhir decided to handle other things.”
“We are very happy with the way our hockey team has been performing and this was a routine meeting,” Kalmadi added.
Randhir, who had alleged that there was lack of transparency and accountability within the members, said all the issues he had with the members have been settled in today’s meeting.
He, however, made it clear that he attended today’s meeting as part of the committee member and was in no mood to take back his resignation as the general secretary.
“We had a meeting of ad-hoc committee and the selection committee today where certain issues were raised by both sides.” “My resignation still stands but the ad-hoc committee is part and parcel of IOA and being an IOA official I am still associated with the committee.” (Agencies)
