KOCHI: ‘Baba Tunde, Prince of Tricks’, says the banner, prominently placed at the Maharaja’s Stadium here. It was probably put up after Viva Kerala’s Nigerian striker Tunde came up with a four-goal strike against Mar Athanasius College in the Cochin Premier League football at the ground the other day.
But that doesn’t intimidate Jackson Victor Ochuko, Malabar United FC’s new Nigerian striker.
“This guy has been having a free run all these days,” says the 16-year-old at the Maharaja’s Stadium on Sunday morning, as he smiles at the striking banner. “Baba Tunde now has somebody to challenge him. Well, we’ll meet Viva in the Cochin League final. We’ll be ready.”
Jackson is just 16 but the young footballer has already played in the second and third divisions of the Ivory Coast and Senegal National Leagues before landing in Kozhikode where Malabar United has its training base. THE HINDU
