St Mary’s down Don Bosco

DIBRUGARH, Feb 21 – Don Bosco School, Dibrugarh faced an easy defeat to Saint Mary’s School, Naharkatia in the inter school cricket tournament played at the Dibrugarh Outdoor Stadium here today. St Mary’s School won by seven wickets.

Earlier, St. Mary’s School restricted Don Bosco School to mere 60. In the 20 overs game, Don Bosco boys could stick around for only 15.2 overs, losing all the wickets. In reply, St Mary’s surpassed the set target in mere 11 overs.

For Don Bosco School, Ramananda Das (35) was the only batsman to have scored runs in the double digits while at least five of its boys were out for a duck. Rajen Sonar of St Mary’s claimed 4 wickets, giving only 5 runs and was adjudged the man of the match. Rajdeep Gogoi (24) and Rajen Sonar (24) were two notable batsmen of St Mary’s.

Ramananda Das and Aman Das of Dibrugarh were declared best batsman and best bowler of the tournament respectively. Jumon Hazarika of Salt Brooke School, Dibrugarh was honoured with a trophy for scoring a century against Shishu Nekatan School. Hazarika scored 116 during the match.

The tournament was organised jointly by the district sports office and Dibrugarh District Sports Association (DDSA).
