AP dominate in Senior I-D athletics



The athletes of Asom Police are continuing their good form in the 34th Senior Inter-District Athletic Championship and bagged nine golds to finish the second day at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium at the top of the points tally. North East Frontier Railway is in the second spot bagging six medals while Goalpara finished the day at third spot with three gold medals. Meanwhile, the Ranjit Gogoi Memorial Marathon will be held in Guwahati on Wednesday. The race will start from Indira Gandhi Athletics Stadium and it will conclude at Ajara. Several disciplines were held on the second day of the championship. The gold medals winners of those events are: 400 m men-Suraj Gogoi (Assam Police), Women-Basanti Rava (Goalpara); 1500m Men- Dadul Ahmed (Nagaon), Wome-Dipti Chutia (Assam Police); 10,000m Men- Apurba Rava (Goalpara), Women-Mofida Hazarika (Nagaon); 110m hurdle Men-Ripul Bramha (Kokrajhar), 100 m hurdle women-Janaki Rava (Goalpara); 200m women- Mina Deka (Assam Police), men Pabitra Medhi (Assam Police), Discuss men- Rajiv Tamuli (Nagaon), Women- Pramila Bharali (Railway), long jump men-Suraj Gogoi (Assam Police), women-Dipshikha Talukdar (Guwahati).

All Assam Ranking Tennis from March 18

Kalyani Club of Numaligarh Refiner Limited will host the second All Assam State Ranking Tennis Tournament which will get under way at the NRL Town ship court from March 18. The tournament is offering scholarship of Rs 75,000 to the players. (Our Correspondent, Jorhat).
