GUWAHATI, March 4 – Assam Police topped the table with 14 gold, three silver and as many bronze medals in the 34th Senior Inter District Athletic Championship which concluded at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium, Sarusajai here today.
Police athletes Pabitra Medhi and Dipti Chutia were adjudged best athletes in the men’s and women’s sections respectively. In the morning today, Abdul Barek of NF Railway and Matowara Ahmed of Barpeta won the coveted marathon titles in the men’s and women’s sections respectively.
The Police teams swept the 4x400 and 4x100m relay races. In the closing function Assam Football Association secretary Ankur Dutta was present as chief guest. The Guwahati Sports Association organized the three-day meet where 152 athletes from 17 districts took part. Assam Tribune
