RS Academy upset FCI, CAB down GTC

GUWAHATI, March 5 – Defending champions Food Corporation of India (FCI) Delhi suffered a five-wicket defeat against RS Academy, also from Delhi while Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) downed Gauhati Town Club by six runs in two matches of the on going Airtel All India T20 Cricket Tournament here at the Nehru Stadium today.

It was second consecutive victory for RS Academy and they virtually booked a berth in the knockout stage.

With some good knocks off the blades of Ankit Rawat (35), Ajmeer Singh (34) and Akash Malhotra (25), FCI piled up a fighting 148 for eight. But the score was not enough as RS Academy reached the target in 18.1 overs losing five wickets. Md Ahmed (36), Amandeep Sonkar (33) and Vaivab Despandey (30) were their leading run getters.

In the second match, displaying superb fielding, the young Bengal boys restricted the GTC team to 124 after setting a winning target of 131.
