GUWAHATI, Aug 2 – Food Corporation of India (FCI) Sports Club handed a 4-0 drubbing to former champions Dynamo Club in today’s match of the GSA Super League for the RG baruah Trophy.
In a totally one-sided affair at the Neheu Stadium here, FCI went 2-0 ahead in the first session through stylish striker Thomson Langthasa.
Thomson opened the account in the 25th minute with a smart drive after getting the ball from a melee and at the fag end of the first session he struck again displaying his dribbling skills.
Receiving a pass from midfielder David March Gayary, Thomson dribbled past two opponent defenders before pushing home.
After the break, Bhaskarjyoti Bora made it 3-0 in favour of FCI in the 57th minute. Anticipating a pass from defender Bikram Borgohain, Bhaskarjyoti deceived the Dynamo defenders who were trying to trap him in off side. Finally, Kamal Das completed the rout in the 74th minute with a pile drive from inside the box.
The Dynamo defenders were totally exposed by the fast moving FCI attackers today. Thomson, Kamal and David virtually tore apart the Dynamo defence with brilliant combination at the mid-field and wings.
The Dynamo defence line, comprising of Suman Malakar, Maduekwe Emeka Ejike, Raja Guha Thakurata and Karna Tanti left enough space among themselves which gave easy passage to the FCI forwards. Their mid-fielders were also totally outsmarted by David and Kamal.
Studded with two Nigerians players, the Dynamo team today totally disappointed their supporters. The frontline players hardly could show the ability to disturb the rock-solid FCI defence.
Their only positive scoring opportunity came in the later part of the second session when Onyebi Mandos Ogboma, who was leading his side today, missed an easy sitter.
If the Dynamo boys cannot improve their performance in the forthcoming matches, they may face some trouble in the later part of the championship.
