OIL FC through to Gold Cup soccer final

DULIAJAN, Nov 8 – Champions and host OIL Football Club made it to the final once again in the 5th OIL India Challenge Gold Cup Football Tournament 2009 organised by Oil India Limited here at Nehru Maiden today. The OIL team beat Indian National Football Club of Delhi by 5-3 in the first semifinal.

In the well contended match, Jyotish Basumatary of OIL FC initiated the score in the 22nd minute which was equalized by Manjit Singh of Indian National FC in the 70th minute.

Then in the tie- breaker, the winning team’s HL Rauta, Mintu Boro, Mathews Tangjom and Biplob Sonowal found the target. For Indian National FC only RK Singh and Virender Kumar scored.

Dally L of the losing team was sent off in 67th minute and Binoy Sarkar and Virender Kumar were cautioned for rough play.

Tomorrow Vasco Sports Club of Goa will clash with Punjab Police of Jallandhar in the second semifinal.
