Asom take medals haul to 70 in NE Games

By our Sports ReporterGUWAHATI, Feb 6: Asom took its medal tally to 70 on day 3 of the North East Games held at Agartala on Friday. Among the 70 medals that Asom won in the Games, 20 are gold , 23 silver and 27 bronze.
Asom is fighting neck to neck with Tripura for the first position in the medals tally. Asom athletes won seven gold medals today which took their gold medals haul to 20.
Veteran athlete Pramila Bharali won her second gold medal in the championship and this time it was in the women’s shot-put event. Pramila pegged 11.36 meters to collect her second gold. Four more gold came in the athletic event which were won by Dipshikha Talukdar (women triple jump), Beuti Deuri (women javelin), Rajiv Tamuli (men discuss) and Partha Pratim Gogoi (men’s triple jump).
On the other hand, the weightlifting event gave two gold medals to Asom which were won by Jogendra Nath Phukan and Ratul Barua. Meanwhile, Dinesh Chetri stole the limelight by bagging four bronze medals in the gymnastics events.
The other medals that won Asom on Saturday: Silver: Partha Pratim Gogoi (mens long jump), Arindam Gogoi ( mens 50m freestyle), Sobharaj Siddahant (boxing), Zamir Hussain (men’s weightlifting), Dipshikha Talukdar (women’s triple jump), Bichitra Changmai (men’s discuss), Garima Pathak ( women’s javelin), Anuj Bora (men’s triple jump), Pinki Shyam ( women’s 400m), Victor Sharma (men’s judo) and Minati Chetri (women’s judo).
