Nalini finishes tied 11th, Phatlum defends title


Gurgaon (PTI)" Nalini Singh's 11th place finish turned out to be the best by an Indian but the day belonged to Pornanong Phatlum who defended her title in the DLF Women's Indian Open here on Friday.

Phatlum fired in a round of four-under 68 to sign off with a tournament tally of eight-under 208, just two shots ahead of Korean Kim Hae Jung, who carded her third straight round of 70 on Friday.

Nalini finishing tied 11th at six-over 222, while the seasoned campaigner Smriti Mehra (228) finished tied 26 and Saaniya Sharma (233) tied 37th.

Meanwhile, 15-year-old Gauri Monga triumphed in amateur category with a seven-over 223. Tanya Wadhwa finished second at 229.
