Team India gets three points in Sprint race


Gauteng (South Africa): Narain Karthikeyan secured three points for Team India by finishing sixth in the Sprint race, but returned empty handed in the Feature race with a 12th place finish in the South African leg of the A1 GP here on Sunday.

Narain started the Sprint race from fifth position and Feature race from 18th. Narain finished the 40-lap Feature race in 1:03:33.767 minutes, 1:09.150 minutes behind the Swiss winner Neel Jani.

India now has eight points and is 15th in the event. Narain started fifth on the grid in Sprint race and moved up to fourth, but Clivio Piccione of Monaco and Ireland’s Adam Caroll overtook him pushing him to sixth. — PTI
