Jagan Mohan Rao, for the best sports writer in Telugu (C. Jagan Mohan Rao Smaaraka Uttma Kreeda Rachana Award), according to a press release on Sunday.

The award will take into consideration the writings in a calendar year starting from the year 2008 and carries a cash prize of Rs. 5,000. The award committee comprising sports writers and analysts will select the winner from the entries received.

The members of the award committee include K. Chandra Mohan, R. Narender, Sudheer Mahavadi and K.V.S. Nagaraju. “Telugu sports journalism needs encouragement, especially good writers. It is with this intention this award is being instituted,” Venkatesh said.

In cases where there is no byline, the editor or the competent authority of the publication will certify the writer’s name. Only those articles/reports published during the calendar year concerned would be eligible for the award of that particular year. The decision of the selection committee is final.
