More players barred from school meet

Sports reporter
GUWAHATI, March 30 – After Nazira school, several more players were disqualified from the ongoing Inter District School Cricket Tournament for the Dilip Sarma Trophy.

At Nagaon altogether seven players of Senairan HS School, Tinsukia and two players of BPBMHS School, Charaideo have been found to be over aged by the medical board after carrying out medical examination. At Maligaon seven players of the Govt HS School, Karimganj were disqualified by the medical board today. The tournament is meant for players of under 15 years but after medical examination it is found that most of the disqualified players are of over 20 years.

The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) secretary Bikash Baruah said , the tournament was introduced to give a proper platform to the school boys to exploit their talents. But blaming the school authorities the ACA secretary said such type of practice will ruin the tournament and the intention of the organizers will never be fulfilled. He, however said that the concerned schools will be allowed to take part in the championship if they replace the over aged players with boys of proper age. ASSAM TRIBUNE
