Ugandan player dies

GUWAHATI, March 3 – A footballer of the Camellia George Telegraph of Kolkata died at Silchar today.

Alex Kettite, who was from Uganda met the tragic incident this morning who was quite upset after their match in the National B Division Football League at the Satindra Mohan Dev Stadium, Silchar against Lajong Football Club of Shillong yesterday, which they lost 1-2.

The Kolkata team recruited the Uganda player this year and yesterday’d match was his first one in India. Although he missed two sitters in the match against Lajong, he netted the lone goal for his team and according to the reports available here he was upset after missing the scoring opportunities.

According to the informed sources, he felt pain in his chest and was rushed to the Silchar Medical College Hospital by the officials of the Silchar District Sports Association. But unfortunately the 24-year footballer breathed his last on the way to the hospital.

The football fraternity of the State mourned his death. Today’s match of the championship was put off due to the tragic incident. Assam Tribune
